Do the Pros of Artificial Intelligence Outweigh the Cons?

Could the potential dangers of this technology be worth the risk?

Various articles and research articles that I have read boast the tremendous success that AI has shown in assisting doctors to help treat patients. Many programmers have been able to develop technology that can analyze large amounts of data more efficiently than doctors could ever hope to. This buys extra time for doctors to instead focus on giving treatment to patients the best way the possibly can. This does appear promising, however, there also exists risks that were also mentioned in these readings.

There also exists many risks with AI. A lot of citizens are very concerned that this technology can be manipulated by the people that are creating it. These concerns are very valid. Due to the complex and sophisticated nature of Artificial Intelligence, it can at any point, start pointing doctors in a direction that is not based off of the actual data, but rather its own intentions or the intentions of the programmer that created the technology. This is a scary thought for many Americans and for good reason.

I believe there are both pros and cons to AI. I understand there is many bright spots as it relates to this technology helping patients, but I think that the risks should be made more clear to the citizens. I also think it is our own duty to educate ourselves on this technology and it use in medicine.
