Where is the line drawn?
Over the last few months, I have compiled a substantial amount of research about the use of AI in medicine. I have learned a great deal about the pros and cons of medical workers using this complex technology to treat patients more efficiently. However, one key point seems to be constantly getting swept to the side. This key point is the lack of regulations and rules that have been put in place to modulate the use of this technology.
Perhaps the most concerning thing that I have discovered in my research is that doctors have been left to essentially do whatever they think is appropriate when using AI in their practices. This is not unique to the United States either. Worldwide, Artificial Intelligence has been being used freely by medical workers and new technology is constantly being incorporated into the field without following any sort of laws
So that begs the question, where is the line drawn and who should be drawing it? It has been relative silence from our government as it relates to this complex issue. I personally think that we should stop the use of this potentially dangerous technology until we clearly establish set rules for how we can use it. This issue also needs to be pushed further to the forefront of politics as I believe it is a serious issue that is not talkedvabout frequently enough.
